CetusMix 2
CetusMix 2 deepens the skills learned in CetusMix 1. In the course we practice more demanding skills for Competitive swimming, Water Polo and Synchronized swimming like body control in the water, ball handling skills, different synchronized swimming exercises, diving far under the water and starting the practice of free style stroke technique.
The course is suitable for a child that has passed CetusMix 1 or knows the corresponding skills to the CetusMix 1 course. During one session the participants swims a few hundred meters in the deep pool where the course is arranged. The instructor is mainly handing out instructions from the side of the pool.
In CetusMix 2 we practice the things listed below.
Competive swimming skills:
- 10 meters freestyle (front crawl) in the correct swimming position.
- 10 meters breaststroke with freestyle kicks, with the correct breathing rhythm.
- Jumping into the pool headfirst from the kneeling position.
- Dolphin kicks for 10 meters in the correct swimming position.
Side kicks for 10 meters at the surface of water.
Gliding on the stomach + forward somersault (without breathing).
Synchronized swimming skills:
- The Oyster.
- Back Layout Position with standard sculling moving feet first.
- Front Layout Position + Bent Knee Front Layout Position.
- Tuck Position + extension to Vertical Position.
- Gliding with a 180 degree turn.
- Fundamentals of Eggbeater.
Waterpolo skills:
Throwing the ball into the basket.
Catching the ball with two hands.
Swimming the water polo crawl with the ball.
Other water skills:
- Diving for a length of 5 meters.
- Deep diving (1,2m) with the ball.
Swimming continuously for 100 meters using a style of your choice.
The instructor is evaluating the performance during the course.
Starting level requirements
To participate on the course the child has to master the CetusMix 1 requirements. The child has to be able to swim continuously at least 50m in the deep pool.
Objectives
Learn and deepen the skills and movements specific to different swimming sports. To pass the course, the child must know 12/18 of the above-mentioned performances and be able to swim at least 100 meters continuously. After passing the CetusMix 2 course, the child can continue swimming to the CetusMix 3 course.
Cetus organizes a Try Out event for children interested in competitive sports, through which it is possible to apply to join competitive sports groups and teams.
